‘See’ What I Mean

Wednesday, August 17th, 2005

Last night was productive. I made three trips to the dupster, put together my coffee table, met all my immediate neighbors (the engaged couple, the single older woman, and the hot guy-just being honest). I took a walk and located the tennis courts, pool, and saw an amazing sunset. I also did some organizing, putting away of clothing, and put up two lights on the wall behind my bed.

Today at the store during lunch I saw some guy who I thought I worked with, so of course I smiled at him a bunch of times as we crossed paths, and he smiled back. Well, upon returning to work I saw the guy who I thought I had seen at the store…only (as you’ve probably guessed) it wasn’t him! A little accidental flirtation had occured.

This Friday my company (plus friends and family of employees) are attending a ‘Bridgeport Bluefish’ game. Sort of like a minor league baseball team. They got us free tickets, and apparently we have our own section with food to eat and socializing to take place.

This weekend I will get to hang around my new place and decorate, and clean, and maybe swim or play tennis. The week after I’ll be home, and then later that week my brother will be coming home from another jaunt in asia. Hopefully he’ll come visit soon after he gets back.

I’m trying to get used to not having a tv in my room again, I actually read before bed last night instead of watching Law and Order. I think it’s best to keep it in the living room for fear of too much watching. It’s so quiet right now. I’m just sitting, with no tv, radio, or people talking, it’s really nice. I could actually go to bed right now. Desk

I stopped by the gym to see about becoming an official member now that my 30 days for $30 is up. It’ll cost $60 a month, for 12 months. I want to evaluate my budget to make sure it’ll all fit in, but it’s important for me to have a place to go after sitting for 10 hours all day, ugh.

I really want to get into NYC soon, won’t happen for another three weeks at least. I really want to see a musical (like I’ve already said…Avenue Q!). I was listening to the Hairspray soundtrack at work today. I’ve also have been downlaoding audiobooks to listen to. A while ago I bought ‘Don’t know Much About History’, and finished that a couple weeks ago. I listened to ‘Freakanomics’ last week, and some book about being able to effectively talk to all types of people this week, which was so so, a lot of common sense. Not sure what else to buy.

They don’t have a few books which I want to read: ‘Salt’, ‘Cod’, and ‘The Secret Lives of Lobsters’. I definitely need some new music. I’m a bit bored with what I have. My ipod is weighed down with a lot of Ben Folds and Counting Crows and a whole mess of randomness. Any suggestions?

Time to go and end the silence with a few more episodes of the Muppet Show! Yay!Meandmuppets2

Ahhh…home sweet home

I am laying on the floor of my new apartment, typing out an overdue posting. I am so greatful to be in a place of my own, finally! The novelty of living in a hotel ran out pretty quick, and by the time five weeks were up, not an ounce of amusement was left (except for when my mom was pushing me in the moving cart down the hotel hallway…that was amusing). I moved in to the new place this past weekend, through 100 degree heat on Saturday, then torrential downpours and thunderstorms on Sunday. But I’m here!

Three co-workers came over to help put furniture together, and together we managed to assemble the bed, dressers, dining room table and chairs. (I’ll take some pictures later).

Today I bought the first season of the Muppet Show!!!

I must do laundry. And put things away.

I got lost trying to find a new way home. I ended up in Wilton, which is actually where I was intending to go, only it took twice as long to get there. It’s the town next to Norwalk and has the closest Borders store (which had The Muppet Show!). Next door is a WAY overpriced specialty grocery store, but seeing as I was WAY starving, I forked out the cash and ate a super expensive, and too salty tuna wrap…with capers…which scare me. I also accidentaly bought the wrong blue chips…they were salt free.

It was really nice to be in Providence last weekend and see some people I missed! I’ll be back most likely on the 27th for my grandmother’s 82nd birthday (maybe I’ll see more people then?). We’re going to check out the new Wayland Square restaurant ‘Red Stripe’, yes, like the beer.

I can’t belive it’s 9pm. I will try to stay awake until 12am, try. Rona was going to come over to help put furniture together, but I am so tired, we’ll try another night this week.

Off to clean up some of my things, and create more order in my new place.

Goodnight!
